Aubrey and Ben: Woodlands Country Club June 27, 2009

I first met Aubrey and Ben a year a ago or so as they began their wedding planning. They were eager to begin planning their big day and Toni from the Woodlands Club suggested they contact me to help assit them in bringing to life their vision of their perfect day.
Aubrey was really on her own here in Maine, her mother and father were living in Lima, Peru and all her friends were out of state. We quickly clicked and began the process of putting together the wedding of her dreams. As a design consultant throughout the process of her planning we spent many hours together picking colors, flowers, linens and all!

This pillow was an inspiration for the design of the wedding. We used it in the lounge seating area out on the patio.
groomsmen best man

Ben is from a very close knit family. His mother Christine was a wonderful support throughout the planning process. Ben's dad was his best man.......brothers were the groomsmen. At the wedding his father gave a beautiful speech showing how much they loved their son, and welcoming Aubrey into their family with open arms!Ben's boutonniere......
Linens: we used a black damask overlay, full length white underlay as well as chair covers and black chair sashes to complete the formal Black and White Theme.
We used beautiful wrought iron candelabras as the centerpieces with full, lush all white flowers that included: roses, peonies, hydrangea, mums, snapdragons and Asiatic lilies.

Aubrey's mom found these beautiful black and white birds in Peru and brought them back as the favors for the wedding.
Aubrey's bouquet was a lush, full bouquet of Vendella roses finished with black ribbon details.....The ribbons were found on a shopping trip to NYC at MJ Trimmings! I found so many ribbons.........I will be using them all season in different bride's bouquets....so fun to find ribbons that reflect the personalities of all my brides!
At the church we created two large poufs of all white flowers at the alter. We also had black wrought iron candelabras on the alter and hung wrought iron and glass vases on the walls with peonies and mums in them.

Outside on the patio we created a white lounge seating........this is all available for rental from Flora Fauna. We can change color schemes to match your event. Email us for a quote

Aubrey and Ben, congratulations. I will miss talking to you every week! Take care and hope you have a wonderful time in Peurto Rico.

The Moorings is a beautiful spot....Penny and her staff were wonderful to work with!

Lisa and Stephen: Spruce Point Inn 6.20.09

Lisa and Stephen were married on Saturday at the Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. They were clients refered to me by my friend Emilie, their photographer. I met them once to design their wedding flowers and their enthusiasm was contagious!

Lisa's favorite flowers.....hydrangea in her favorite colors....blue and purple set the theme for the wedding. Fun, beautiful and full of life.......that really describes both the bride and the wedding!

The brides bouquet was a biedermeier that included roses, hydrangeas, freesia, tulips and a perfect peony in the middle. The girls carried biedermeier bouquets of hydrangea, roses, lisianthus and grape Hyacinth.

When I delivered the bouquets to the bridal party I experienced something I have never seen or heard before........the brides yelled and squealed and jumped for joy as I unveiled the bouquets for her.
The groom and his groomsmen wore beautiful gray suits. The grooms boutonniere was a white rose, stock and grape Hyacinth. The groomsmen boutonnieres were a mix of delphinium and lisianthis artfully created by my Kelly!

The tables had different types of centerpieces with simple vases containing roses, stock, iris, delphinium and hydrangea. We surrounded them in a sea of sea glass and votives! The bride provided some of the blue pitcher vases and gave them out to special members of the wedding at the end of the night.

The staff at the Spruce Point Inn was so wonderful to work with. Becky was their wedding coordinator their and was so helpful, timely and organized! Everything went so smoothly it was a pleasure to work up there. Special thanks too to the security guard and wedding guest that jumped our car at the end of the night!

a few last shots of the boutonnieres.......gotta love those!

Lilly and John: May 24, 2009 Portland, Maine

Yesterday was our first wedding of the season! Lilly and John were married in Portland at the First Parish Church on Congress Street and held their reception at the brand new restaurant Grace on Chestnut Street between Portland High School and City Hall.

I met Lilly a year and 1/2 ago at the Woodland's Country Club. We began working on her design for her dream wedding. After many revisions, date changes, location changes etc...we came up with a beautiful all white cocktail reception at Grace (which is not yet open to the public...they say it will be open around June or July....) an old Church recently renovated by the owners of the Foreside Tavern in Falmouth.

We used 100's of white blooms including: dendrobian orchids, peonies, ranuculus, dahlias, roses, calla lilies, lily of the valley, lisianthus, freesia and carnations. Each vase contained one type of flower and were put into clusters on the tables with lots of candles and votives.

The Tony Boffa Band was located on the balcony above the main floor.........made for a very cool atmosphere!

With a central bar and open feel this venue was amazing!

At the ceremony we placed various vases and candles all along the alter.

Each of the bouquets were a different type of flower.

Lilly's bouquet was a lush, full bouquet of all white peonies!

Each of the boutonniere's were also a different type of the flowers...I love this one....rararanuculus!

My favorite shot of the day!
